OXFORD!

The day started with good news… WE ARE GOING TO OXFORD!!! But with a problem, it was raining, oooooohh!!! L We got up at 8:30 a.m and we had breakfast. Then we went by bus to the wonderful city of Oxford. When we arrived it was raining a lot.
First we went to the Museum of Natural History of Oxford and we liked it so much, we learned a lot and we took some photos.

Later we walked a bit to the centre of Oxford. The group leaders gave us four hours to buy presents and to eat. Obviously, we bought an Oxford University sweatshirt!  We went to some shops and we had lunch at “Prêt à manger” and we saw the fantastic buildings and some cemeteries that were very strange.
Then we came back to Southampton and we went for dinner. When we finished, we went to the residence to take a shower and to talk with our friends and to write this brilliant diaryJ.
Finally we went to bed to dream with our fantastic experience in Oxford.

Titanic Museum + short film

Today was a different day, I felt better, I wasn’t as tired as other days, and WHY? Because we slept  1 hour and 20 minutes more than a normal day.
We ate breakfast as usual and then we went to the Titanic Memorials and the group leaders gave a questionnaire. It was my second time at the museum so I knew some of the questions. We expected to go to the Oceans Village but the rain stopped us.
We went to the canteen  to have lunch but we were too early. After having lunch, we prepared the Talents Contest act. The boys “who have more imagination than girls” dance LA MACARENA and the girls do a Lipdub. We practiced a lot before having dinner.
The evening activity was film quiz and then we watched a short film “Wallace & Gromit” it was a cartoon movie. It was quite funny because it was totally unreal.

Sports day + Art class

Today in the morning, we got up at 6:45. Elvira wakes the girls up every day. Then, we had breakfast and I ate cereals with milk and a toast with butter and sugar. It was delicious. The classes began at 8:45. I had a hard class today because I was very tired, so I have to go earlier to bed.

The two classes finished at 11:50 and after we stayed at the door of the university to go and have lunch.
In the afternoon we played sports. Merchi, Laura, Alex and Me played Badmington and Volleyball. After that we were very tired. Then, we stayed in the park waiting for the boys and some Italian and French students.

And finally we had dinner. I ate a hamburger again! After, we had an Art class. We made cards of Southampton with paints. We won the quiz!

Finally, we went to the bed. Tomorrow will be another wonderful day!

Welcome to the Isle of Wight!

As always, we got up early and we had breakfast.

In class, we revised all the things that we have been doing.
We ate very fast the lunch because we had to take the ferry to go to the Isle of Wight. When we arrived there we visited a very nice beach. There we took some photos to remember our experience and then we went shopping. We bought some presents for our family and friends.

We came back to the residence and we wrote our diary. Suddenly, the fire alarm started ringing and we all had to go downstairs very fast and stay out of the residence. We were very scared because we didn’t know what was happening!
Later we had dinner and we played some games with the other students.
We returned to the residence and we went to bed.

Southampton tour + Bowling night!

Today, we got up at half past six in the morning and then we went to have breakfast. Around eight o´clock we started the classes with the Italians and French. Our first class has been with Chris and the second with Russell. It has been great! We´ve done a debate to talk about what is more important: money or sense of humor.
When we finished the lessons we went to have lunch. After that we headed to the Southampton museum and we saw a lot of modern pictures.

Afterwards, everybody went shopping in the centre of Southampton. It’s been fantastic! We bought a lot of beautiful clothes!

The boys went to play football while the girls finished shopping.

Later, we went bowling. By the night, we started to listen to music with the jukebox while we were playing. It has been really fun!

Welcome to Southampton 2011!!!

Hello everybody!! and sorry for the delay in getting started with this Blog! We arrived very late the first night and we couldn’t access the Internet until today. The students will write every day or every two days in groups of two, the Group Leaders will start today!

The flight went well and a member of Summers Abroad’s staff was waiting for us to take us to the bus. We had a little snack and then we started sorting the rooms out (boys on the first floor and girls on the second floor).
The first morning, we got up at 6:45 am and walked to the dining place (about 15 minutes from our residence). We met Mr. Russell and he gave us some instructions of how to queue up to get the food (there were different cereals, croissants, sausages, bacon, eggs, orange juice, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, etc).
After that, we walked across the park, up to Southampton Solent University and after a short Welcome speech, the students started a level test (including writing, listening, grammar and conversation) in order to put them into different classes according to their knowledge.

Once everyone finished their oral tests, we had lunch and headed for the first classes in the new groups. After 3 hours of class (with a 20 minutes break) we had dinner and then went to watch a movie: GREASE!!! Some of us had already seen it, but it was fun anyway!

Finally, we went back to the Students Residence, took a shower and had a little snack for supper.
The students had some free time before they went to sleep to talk about the day, play cards, read, etc.
At 11 it was time to go to bed…the day after was going to be a looooooooooooooong day!
